Places of Remembrance 1914-1918 > Memorial of the U.S 42nd DivisionThe Memorial of the U.S 42nd Division is also known as the Rainbow Division Memorial. This unit gathered men from several U.S. states and "stretch(ed) over the whole country like a rainbow". This three-meter high statue made of bronze represents a soldier carrying his dead comrade.
This modern pieta illustrating two American soldiers is the work of an English sculptor, James Butler, from the Royal Art Academy of London. It was installed on the former Red Cross Farm where a few walls in ruins are still visible.
